Yes, SV is getting its damage reduced. However, there’s a lot more going on in this patch that merits our attention. I’d really encourage you to read the whole set of patch notes. If you need an incentive, know that there’s gems like this:

Hi folks, Pherra here. I just uploaded a new release of the DPSCheck addon to WoWInterface and Curse. This new version has the first pass at priority checks for Beast Mastery and Marksmanship builds, along with a new buff/debuff checking feature. The priority checks are designed to help your shot selection in any fight, while the buff/debuff checks are for maximizing your DPS over longer fights.

“I’d like a guide to what the common mistakes are. For instance, I have pretty fair gear and have tried to put most of your lessons to practice, but somehow I still get nowhere near the DPS(about 1600-1800) of my fellow hunters. OK, So I suck, but, WHY? (other than just general suckiness)”
I’m not the kind of guy to tell someone how bad they are- if they ask for help, that puts them ahead of 90% of the hunters who are (currently) surpassing them in DPS. (more…)

Well, it was bound to happen. First, the eggheads over on the best possible DPS thread at elitistjerks.com started talking about how marks overtook SV as top DPS. Then the filter down blogs started mentioning it, and eventually it became such common knowledge that wow.com (formerly wow insider) posted it. Well, the reality is that you can’t just switch to marksmanship from survival and always expect to see a DPS increase. (more…)

Due to popular request, I’m writing up a guide on how to kite. I’ve written before about how to kite zombie chows on gluth, but this is going to be more general. Plus, the zombie chows is really more like range tanking than kiting ;) (more…)

There are two perfectly functional hunter builds that you can use to magnify the effects of your explosive shots. One uses sniper training, the other uses resourcefulness to increase your lock and load procs (remember, these builds are baselines- spend the remainder of your points as you see fit). Both are viable and used by many hunters. Which you take will be based on your own style, but neither will last past the next patch.
