This week we’re joined by Conjor, Hunter from the guild Duality. We discuss some minor hunter hotfixes, and a major arena nerf to Dismiss Pet.

We also discuss the theorycrafting work he did for RPPM trinkents in patch 5.3, and potential Hunter changes for Warlords of Draenor. Conjor also tells us why you shouldn’t give up on Marksmanship for PvP and SoO just yet.

Canada nerfed Arth’s weather. Between his late arrival and it being a light Hunter news week,  we quickly devolved into a lore cast.

We also talked about Ghostcrawler’s departure, and read an e-mail about a Murder of Crows.

Episode 198 is shaping up to be 100% Hunter talk as we’re planning to have a new guest to discuss the current state of Marksmanship.

It’s a very Hunter Blizzcon folks! Darkbrew and Euripides talk about the hunter changes and break down the new talent system and what it means for PvE and PvP.

Frostheim reports live from the event where his Ghostcrawler tracker was in full working order. Frostheim tells us what GC had to say on a number of topics such as PvP, dual-wielding, GC’s favorite hunter podcast, and the possibility of a certain female dwarf getting and in-game item in patch 4.3.

In Ghostcrawler’s new post on upcoming class changes, all three hunter specs get mentioned by name in the first body paragraph.  Survival hunters are brought up twice, for having suspiciously high single target damage and for having possibly too-high AoE damage.  Beast Mastery and Marksmanship hunters get singled out as having damage that is definitely too low.  This much attention, this prominently in the post suggests that some significant changes to all three hunter specs are on the horizon.  We know for sure, at least, that improvements to Aimed Shot, Chimera Shot, Kill Shot and Kill Command are in the works to buff BM and MM (as noted in the “Potpourri” section of the post).

This episode, Frostheim joins Euripides and Darkbrew on location at Blizzcon in sunny California! He somehow managed to arrange for some quality time with Ghostcrawler, and brings us the report about some of the things they chatted about. Amazingly, that did not include the Ghostcrawler Spirit beast… he did, however, remember to ask him for an audio bumper, which amazingly we got!

Digging through the blue posts on fury warriors (haha, no, actually Shaedon over at the Hunter’s Refuge posted about this) I found this gem of a hunter tidbit from Ghostcrawler:

Lowering the GCD is as close to anything on the never list. We will possibly do it for hunters, but that is because their resource system is going to prevent them from ever spamming multiple buttons at once (in the same way rogues have a lower GCD). Even with rage normalization there are going to be times when a warrior is at 100 rage and can unload with multiple attacks at once. The GCD is there for a reason, partially for game balance and partially to keep the server – client communication from getting gummed up.

That just makes sense. Our 1.5 second GCD that doesn’t get reduced by haste is currently a necessity, but once we’re more constrained by focus, then they can give us the same kind of GCDs other physical classes get.
