While it’s nice to be able to deterrence if disarmed, there was an undocumented change that slipped through with 4.1: we can no longer use deterrence while we hold the flag in a battleground. This is probably because a double deterrence combined with a double disengage (and the nice little 40% speed boost that comes with it) would prevent anyone from stopping a hunter from getting across the field, but it certainly makes us less attractive as flag carriers.
No more deterrence while carrying a flag

Also another hidden nerf added to 4.1 … blizz loves doing those.
Just in time for Children’s Week too.
Honestly I never knew we could deterrence while carrying a flag, but I did experience this change first hand over the weekend.
I give myself a +1 for even thinking to use deterrence while trying to complete this crazy achievement.
Thanks for sharing that man. Experienced that this weekend and couldn’t make sense of it, thought about UI, or rogues still disarming me and it and the patch not working, but didn’t think of it being a hidden nerf. You’ve cleared up a wtf that’s been in the back of my mind since experiencing it in Warsong Gulch this weekend.
Honestly I think they need to disable a lot more abilities while you are carrying the flag.
First and foremost is Travel Form (and the shaman variant). How is it at all fair that two classes can mount up carrying the flag while no others can?
Beyond that, things like Blink, Disengage, being the target of a life grip, Aspect of the Pack, and Sprint and all it’s variants should also be disallowed. Basically, if you are carrying the flag you should be moving at normal speed.
And if deterrence is not allowed why are any of the defensive CDs allowed? Because I can stop being slowed? Then why is Master’s Call allowed?
There’s no real rule that they’ve been following.
Thats the issue. If you want there to be a normalized run speed when carrying a flag, then the flag should put an over-riding debuff on the carrier that disallows any speed buffs and stops any self buffed movement effects. So it prevents bubbling, blinking, disengage, deterrence, vanish, fade, etc etc.
It would allow the travel form, but limit the movement speed to standard run speed. (Mainly need to allow shape change for bear druids for example).
OR….allow this stuff to remain pervasive and yes it will lead to specific classes being better at a particular BG task than others. PvE raiding works the same way….some classes are much better at kiting than others based on their abilities.
1 – 30 second hunters mark debuff
2 – 8 second widow venom debuff
3 – cannot use deterrence while holding flag
4 – left clicking sometimes starts auto attack
5 – pet follows your mount in bg and is targettable (wasted scatter on a demon while they was mounted)
6 – md not working.. might show as being up but threat is not transferred.
7 – Rogues and ferals can open on you while camo’d, mage can pet nova while your camo’d
8 – Trap Launcher wont fire, remains qued despite trying to use it, happens alot
Awesome stuff eh!
